16th edition of the Annual Workshop on Survey Methodology discussed new data sources, data governance, cybersecurity, digital economy, and the use of AI and machine learning in the context of the action of national statistics producers
São Paulo, September 1, 2026 – The impacts of artificial intelligence (AI), the incorporation of new data sources, and the challenges of ensuring the quality and reliability of statistics in a rapidly transforming digital ecosystem were at the center of the debates at the 16th edition of the NIC.br Annual Workshop on Survey Methodology, held from August 24 to 27, in São Paulo (SP).
Promoted by the Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br) of the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br), in partnership with the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE) of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Society for the Development of Science (SCIENCE), the meeting brought together experts from national statistical institutes, academia, ministries, regulators, and international organizations.
