This is one of the conclusions of the ICT Education 2013 survey, conducted by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br) through the Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (CETIC.br), part of the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br).

The data collection for the fourth edition of the ICT Education survey took place between September and December 2013. Interviews were conducted in person with 939 principals, 870 pedagogical coordinators, 1,987 teachers, and 9,657 students from 994 public and private schools located in urban areas of all regions of the national territory.

In public schools, 46% of teachers reported using computers and the Internet in activities with students in the classroom - an increase of 10 percentage points compared to 2012. “This data shows how teachers perceive the importance of using new technologies with students, as some of them bring their personal computers to the classroom,” explains Alexandre Barbosa, manager of CETIC.br.

Use of digital educational content
The ICT Education 2013 survey added new indicators showing that 96% of public school teachers use educational resources available on the Internet to prepare lessons or activities with students. The most used types of resources are images, figures, illustrations or photos (84%), texts (83%), test questions (73%), and videos (74%). The use of games reaches 42%, ready presentations, 41%, and educational programs and software, 39%.

The amount of publications of educational resources by teachers, that is, professionals who are authors of educational content and who share their productions on the network, is still small. Only 21% of public school teachers have published on the Internet some educational content they produced to use in their classes or activities with students.
