Notas 31 JUL 2017

Event takes place on August 21 in São Paulo. Participate!

On the upcoming August 21, the Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br), from the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br), promotes the launch of the Study "Culture and Technologies in Brazil: a study on the cultural practices of the population and the use of information and communication technologies." The event is free and will take place at the SESC Research and Training Center in São Paulo.

The ICT Culture survey aims to investigate how access to and use of ICT has transformed the cultural practices of the population. For this, Cetic.br promoted a qualitative exploration with groups of Brazilians of different ages and socioeconomic profiles, residing in the five regions of the country. Among the questions that permeate the study are the potentials of the dissemination and use of ICT to expand access to cultural goods and services and promote the diversity of what is culturally produced and disseminated in Brazil. In addition, the study also sought to identify whether there are limitations to promoting cultural diversity and expanding the right to culture through the use of technologies.

"The way we consume and produce culture in the last decade has undergone major changes due to the increased access to technologies by the population. This sectoral study aims to answer several important questions to understand this important interface between culture and technology in the Brazilian scenario and thus assist in fostering public policies that ensure the advancement of this process," emphasizes Alexandre Barbosa, manager of Cetic.br.

The launch will feature the moderation of Luciana Piazzon Barbosa Lima (Cetic.br), and participation of Isaura Botelho (Sesc-SP) and Maria Carolina Vasconcelos Oliveira, from the Center for Development and Inequalities of the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (Cebrap).

Registrations for the launch event are already open and can be made at this link. Spots are limited, and there will be distribution of the publication.
