13th Privacy Seminar - Follow the launch of unprecedented data on data protection from the perspective of individuals, companies, and public organizations

Releases 11 AGO 2022

NIC.br and CGI.br event will take place next week (17 and 18/8) in São Paulo; check out more details of the program

The perception of Brazilian individuals, companies, and public organizations about privacy and personal data protection will be addressed at the 13th Seminar on Privacy and Personal Data Protection, an event by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br) and the Information and Coordination Center of Ponto BR (NIC.br), which will occur on August 17 and 18 in São Paulo. Concerns of Internet users about providing personal data in network transactions, the presence of a "data officer" in Brazilian companies, and the availability by public organizations of an online service channel for requests, complaints, or reports related to personal data treatment are some of the unprecedented data that will be presented by experts from the Regional Center of Studies for the Development of the Information Society of NIC.br (Cetic.br|NIC.br).

The Seminar, considered one of the most important discussion spaces on the subject in the country, will occur in person in São Paulo and will also be streamed on the NIC.br YouTube channel. To participate, you need to register, for free, on the website of the event, where you can find the complete schedule of discussions.

Organized into three thematic axes – artificial intelligence (AI), information security, and the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) –, the event will also have five multisectoral panels with the participation of renowned experts from the governmental, business, third sector, and the scientific and technological community.

The program will also include three lectures: the first one, “Principles and Ethics in the treatment of personal data in Artificial Intelligence systems,” will be presented by Marielza Oliveira, Director of Partnerships and the Operational Communications and Information Monitoring Program at UNESCO. It is scheduled for 9:30 AM on Wednesday (17) and will be moderated by Danilo Doneda (CEDIS/IDP).

On the same day, at 2:30 PM, the second lecture, “Current Panorama in Information Security: an analysis of cyber threats in the years 2021/2022,” will be given by Adriano Cansian, founder and coordinator of the ACME! Cybersecurity Research Laboratory, with moderation by Flávio Wagner (ISOC Brasil).

On Thursday (18), at 11:00 AM, keynote speaker Bianca Kremer (Researcher at the Center for Law, Internet and Society of the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development, and Research - CEDIS/IDP) will speak about “Implementation of LGPD in Brazil - Perspectives on the Judiciary and the constitutionalization on the right to data protection.” The lecture will be moderated by Luiz Costa (MPF/Program Committee of the event).
